EasyJet Announce new Morocco
Flights to begin 4 July!
Easyjet has announced what it claims is its most significant
expansion for two years after launching new routes to Marrakech,
Istanbul and Croatia’s third largest city, Rijeka. This
marks the low-cost carrier’s first foray into African
routes.
Daily services will operate from Gatwick to Marrakech from
July 4 and from Luton to Istanbul from June 29 with a four
times weekly frequency from Luton to Rijeka beginning on June
30.
Chief executive Andrew Harrison said the expansion of its
non-EU network will exploit both the growing leisure and business
travel markets.
"Croatia, Turkey and Morocco are forging an ever-closer
relationship with the UK and Europe," he said. "As
a consequence the demand for low cost fares to these countries
is growing quickly and easyJet will be in a unique position
to benefit from this development."
Harrison added: "This is probably our most significant
expansion since the start of our new routes to Central and
Eastern Europe in May 2004."
If other major low-cost carriers decide to enter this market
as well, prices may be forced ever lower. As has been seen
on numerous occasions in the past, the arrival of low-cost
airlines often proves to be a major driving force behind the
growth of overseas property buyers in a country or region,
so this is the perfect time to look at investing in these
newly accessible areas.
