Brazil - A tropical paradise
For
hundreds of years, Brazil has symbolised the great escape
into a tropical paradise, igniting the Western imagination
like no other South American country. From the passion of
Carnaval to the immensity of the dark Amazon, it is a country
of mythic proportions.
This is a land of staggering beauty. There are stretches
of unexplored rainforest, islands with pristine tropical
beaches, endless rivers and amazing plantlife. Much beyond
the breathtaking scenery, the way the Brazilians live surprises
everyone by their simplicity, willingness, hope, hospitality
and happiness. Now you can experience this too with some
stunning off plan property in Brazil.
The
inhabitants of Brazil themselves delight the visitor with
their energy and joy. So much so that the number of foreigners
visiting the country went from an average of 1.5 million
per year in the 1990s to more than 4 million visitors per
year in 2000.
Brazil's winter lasts from June to August, with temperatures
between 13 and 18C, but it only gets cold south of Rio.
Summer is from December to February, a period frequently
bringing stifling humidity to the far south. Brief rain
showers are common, given Brazil's tropical climate, but
the
dry interior has only a few months of heavy rainfall a year.
Of course, the Amazon Basin is the wettest area, with damp,
moist temperatures averaging 27 C.
Brazil covers nearly half of South America and is the continent's
largest nation. It extends 2,965 mi (4,772 km) north-south,
2,691 mi (4,331 km) east-west, and borders every nation
on
the continent except Chile and Ecuador. It may be divided
into the Brazilian Highlands, or plateau, in the south and
the Amazon River Basin in the north. Over a third of Brazil
is drained by the Amazon and its more than 200 tributaries. The
Amazon is navigable for ocean steamers to Iquitos, Peru,
2,300 mi (3,700 km) upstream. Southern Brazil is drained
by the Plata system—the Paraguay, Uruguay, and Paraná
Rivers.
Now you can see just why it is a great time to look for
