Golf Courses in Dubai
Dubai has everything the discerning golfer could possibly
hope for. From courses that have been miraculously carved
from the desert sands to fantastic palm trees, lush green
fairways and beautiful lakes. Our guide gives you a brief
outlook on the golf courses in Dubai.
Abu Dhabi - Garden Golf Club
A
90 min drive from Dubai & 45min from Jebel Ali is Abu
Dhabi. There are two 18 hole layouts designed by US architect
Peter Harradine. Both courses are of equal standing and
feature undulating terrain that meander through pockets
of palm trees, ornamental lakes, shrubs and seven salt-water
lakes. The Garden course is a little shorter but both are
equal to anything in Dubai and makes for a great day away.
Expect to pay: £32 - 57.
Abu Dhabi - National Golf Club
Once
again, this is only a 90 minute drive from Dubai. Much like
the garden Golf Club, the two 18 hole layouts have been
exclusively designed by Peter Harradine.
Expect to pay: £40 - 64.
Al Badia Golf Club
We
are pleased to advise you that the Al Badia Golf Resort
is now open in Dubai. Dubai’s latest addition to its
exceptional golf experiences, the Al Badia golf course is
a 7,250 yard, 18-hole, par 72 championship standard course.
Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the course is positioned
as the centerpiece of the prestigious Dubai Festival City
project with stunning views of Dubai's skyline. The course,
influenced by an oasis, is rich in cascading water features
and lush with plants indigenous to the Arabian Gulf, as
well as incorporating eleven lakes and several smaller ponds.
Whilst the course has been designed to be environmentally
responsible it also provides a challenging round for the
seasoned golfer and assures the recreational player of a
memorable experience.
Expect to pay: £61 - 91.
Arabian Ranches Golf Club
This is a great new links course set in the desert just
30 minutes from Dubai. Built by the renowned Troon Golf
group from Arizona this is a links type experience set in
natural terrain. A tough course, it’s already been
heralded a beauty and possible Dubai’s number 1. No
trees – just tees, greens and fairways with wild vegetation
in the desert sands!
Expect to pay: £40 - 72.
Dubai Creek Golf Club
This
is the current venue for the European Tour’s “Dubai
Desert Classic” in March. Situated in the city centre
it runs along the famous ‘Creek ‘ and as you
might expect and water hazards are a feature. There are
3 ornamental lakes and 3 seawater hazards. Holes 17 and
18 are a severe test as they snake alongside the Creek and
with a grandstand finish to look forward too you’ll
be glad to reach the Clubhouse. This offers shoe cleaning,
club cleaning, buggies and an exquisite restaurant.
Expect to pay: £66 - 104.
Emirates - Majlis Golf Club
Emirates
is the number one venue in Dubai, despite healthy competition
from the Creek and Yacht Club. It was built in 1988 and
was the first venue for the Desert Classic. The course has
a real maturity to it with big trees; (a mixture of palm
trees and other tropical species), plenty of water hazards
and small sand dunes which give great definition to some
of the fairways. Straight hitting is very important, as
it is a tight driving course. The Clubhouse is as spectacular
as the Creek and extremely unusual in design, resembling
large Bedouin Tents made entirely in glass.
Expect to pay: £95 - 115.
Emirates - Wadi Golf Club
On
its own the Wadi would stand as an excellent course, but
is rather stifled by its older neighbour - in reality there
is little to separate the courses in length and difficulty.
The quality is the same, the only difference is that there
is a little more space for your tee shots. Again the Wadi
has a mature feel to it with plenty of water.
Expect to pay: £61 - 80.
Jebel Ali Golf Club
This
is possibly the world’s best 9-hole course, which
because of its diversified tees can be played as an authentic
18-hole layout, but with just 9 greens. Imagine a course
such as Penina with flowering trees, shrubs and water hazards
but then add in some elevation changes and some dunes to
give it links feel. Just for good measure to spice it all
up with some peacocks to patrol the rough and you that’s
Jebel Ali!
Imagine a course such as Penina with flowering trees, shrubs
and water hazards but then add in some elevation changes
and some dunes to give it links feel. Just for good measure
spice it all up with some peacocks to patrol the rough and
you that’s Jebel Ali! Book Jebel Ali main building
or Palm Tree Court 90 days prior to arrival and receive
two free rounds on the course. Jebel Ali is only 15 minutes
from Majilis and Emirate Hills.
Expect to pay: £46 - 63
Nad Al Sheba Golf Club
Designed
within the famous racecourse it’s a good 18-hole layout,
which is floodlight up until midnight.. The course is dead
flat but features eight lakes and numerous pot bunkers.
On Thursday nights you can play golf and then attend floodlit
horse racing next to the club - a night at the races is
just £25 including a meal!
Expect to pay: £59 - 75.
The Montgomerie Golf Club
Combining
the course design traditions of truly great Scottish links
courses, The Montgomerie Dubai is the new jewel of golf
courses in the United Arab Emirates.
Covering more than two hundred acres, this spectacular
golf course provides the player with undulating "links
land" style fairways which challenge and intrigue all
levels of player. Placement of the drive to the generous
fairways remains the cornerstone of any good round. The
flat landing area of each fairway can be challenging to
find, but in the end a rewarding adventure.
With fourteen lakes and seventy two bunkers, The Montgomerie
Dubai, this first example of the association between golfing
great Colin Montgomerie and Desmond Muirhead adds a distinctive
variety to the golfing landscape of the region. One of the
signature hole designs, the par three thirteenth, boasts
the largest single green in the world. With a total area
of 58,000 sq feet - the equivalent of nine greens - its
island green can be played from a 360 degree teeing ground
giving the advantage of a totally different golf hole each
time you play.
The putting surfaces of Flora dwarf Ultra Dwarf Bermuda
grass compliment the undulating nature of the fairways with
generous landing areas and challenging pin positions. The
large green surfaces will not only test shot making ability,
but the deft touch required for low scoring.
Expect to pay: £53 - 92
